The Children's Miracle Network is an international 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for and awareness of children's hospitals in North America. Confidence Learning Center, also known as Camp Confidence, is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization founded in 1969. It is a year-round camp for adults and children with developmental disabilities, located on 140 acres of land in Brainerd. At the center of the camp is the John Mariucci Lodge, named after a hockey legend and co-founder of the camp. Camp Confidence does not receive any federal, state, or local tax dollars. Minnesota Special Hockey exists for the enrichment of the athlete with a developmental disability. In addition to physical hockey skills, the program emphasizes the development of desirable individual characteristics such as dependability, self-reliance, concentration, willingness to share and personal accountability.
